Team Ikuzawa and digital artist Chris Labrooy have teamed up for an exciting new collaboration that fuses Japanese motorsport heritage with futuristic digital art. The result is a limited-edition capsule collection and series of art prints.
Mai Ikuzawa explains, “Chris Labrooy’s work exists on such a high creative plane. When I showed him our archives—especially the 1988 Isle of Man TT, where our rider broke down in a remote field—he saw it as something surreal, like an alien landing. That vision became the seed of this project."
Chris Labrooy adds, “The photos Mai shared had a dreamy, surreal vibe—this striking red-and-white rider appearing in a sleepy English field, like they’d just landed from another planet. These photos became the foundation for a much bigger creative vision. They sparked the idea of reimagining Team Ikuzawa as a kind of superhero universe."
As a brand born in the ’80s racing era, we wanted to honour not just motorsport, but also Japanese superhero culture—those zipped-up heroes on miniature sets. That layered storytelling is core to Team Ikuzawa.
